IPC-A-610 is a commonly used standard in electronics manufacturing. This standard constitutes a set of requirements for operating with PCBAs and maintaining their quality. In this standard target conditions and designed tolerances can be found. The aforementioned cannot always be fulfilled therefore the standard also describes acceptable conditions.

IPC-A-610 also describes procedures of operating with nonconformities such as a product incompatible with requirements, faulty products or other situations which may not be relevant in terms of product functionality but can be undesirable due to materials used, design or machine defect. Such instances are treated as process indicators and, despite not needing mandatory interference, can serve as a basis for upgrading the operations.
